Welcome back everyone!

I just wanted to start off by saying thanks for the support. The comic is doing very well and it’s all thanks to you. I work quite a bit and seeing the interest week to week keeps me smiling!

Michael Raymond Judy’s work as a writer is seen here for the first time. We are very excited to hear some feedback from the comic book’s fans.

You will also notice that there is a change in the spell chanting. The different spells will be spoken in languages that closely represent the spell’s nature. Light spells such as portals and flash will always be spoken in French. The French language is a beautiful well flowing representation of Light/Holy Spells.

The staff is known as a staff of pain. It is a fusion of a dark oak and a Mind Devourer’s skull. It is crafted from the darkest spells of pain and disease, bitter and enraged. It takes pleasure in dealing out death when protecting its owner.

Thanks again everyone and I look forward to seeing everyone back here next week! I am getting more time to focus on the comic and it will really begin to show soon!

is it just me or does there seem to be a bit of difference in the drawing. hmm idk but I like it keep up the great work.

yeah, there is a difference in the drawing. Sometimes I have the time to invest in panels like the previous page with Bianka fighting the orcs. In other pages such as the current page, I only have a little time to wrap up a page. The style gets a bit cartoonish, that is my normal style when working at a quick pace. The challenge for me is to merge these styles into a constant looking piece. Every page that I work on this is becoming a reality. This is my first attempt at illustrating and co-writing a comic. As with many of the artists I look up to such as Bachalo, Joe Madureira and Adam Hughes, we all start out a bit raw. But through years of experience this art style becomes defined through constant deliverables and the need to streamline in order to finish said deliverables. The sole focus and pay of a project also helps, the artist isn’t spread too thin doing several jobs at once (like my day job and this comic). I would love to see the day that I can focus only on the comic book, due to a steady pay check. But I know those days are not coming soon… sighs sadly… Thanks for the support Lamer and Michelle and here’s to maybe someday getting that opportunity ^^

I just discovered your webco through the webcomic list, and I must say I really love your art !
I’m also so proud that you chose French for your spells, but please don’t use Google translate to get them right. What you just write could be reverse translated into :
The time of mother, opening a gateway at Arcadia, our divine abode…
As you can see, it might be a bit messy…
You got the “divine abode” right, but “Open a gateway to Arcadia” should be “Ouvre un passage vers Arcadia”.
As for “mother time”, French has a gender grammar and time is a masculine noun, not going very well with the concept of mother. Well, since the “mother” term can mean “origin” or “source”, i’m sure you can bend the concept a little and call out for “temps mère”(time mother) or “temps originel”(original time).
Your spell would then look like :
    “Temps mère,
    Ouvre un passage vers Arcadia
    Notre demeure divine.”
With all the special move names you can make in English, I never thought someone would find it cool to chant spells in French.
If you ever need help with your spells, I would be glad to give a hand.
    Don’t hesitate to mail me.
And don’t hesitate to say so if you don’t give a damn about French grammar and just wanted to write cool spells ! I won’t bother you anymore but will read the comic nonetheless ;)
    Please, keep it up !

Wow! I will take you up on that offer! Thank you so much ^^
It’s people like you that can really help me make a difference and I would love to get advise on the proper wording of my spells in French. It’s funny, Michael and I came up with the idea a day before I posted so you caught me. Lol, with whole Google translator deal.

    Damn you Google! Lol.

    Thank again Nashounet ^^

  6. warnie Says:

awesome stuff, as usual. Well, if your going to chant in anything , I thought it would be Brooklyenese ;) Then again being of a Norse styled comic, why not use Swedish or Danish!

Tiden av moder , öppnandet en portgången på Arkaden , vår gudomlig boningen

or The time of mother, opening a gateway at Arcadia, our divine abode

    Sounds kool to me.

  7. Kris Stout Says:

Thanks Warnie! Yeah, you will see some Danish in the spells from the Northlands but probably not in Brooklynese ha ha ha! No offense to the great people in NY. Thanks again

  8. Thoht Says:

Very cool, but avoid Google translator and the like please. I’m sure there are people out there who can help you translate properly, no offense.

“Tiden av moder , öppnandet en portgången på Arkaden , vår gudomlig boningen”

Google? A direct translation from the (proper) French to Swedish would be:

“Moder av tid, öppna en passage till Arkadia, vår gudomliga bostad!”

I’d suggest this instead, a tad more poetical:

“Moder Tid, öppna en passage till Arkadia, vår gudomliga hemvist!”

Give me a shout if you need help translating.

  9. Sim Says:

    Just a little hint…

In french some words have gender so you can’t translate directly “mother time” because time is “masculin” (male) gender “le temps” and not “la temps”. It would be better to say :

“Ô temps, ouvre ton portail vers Arcadia notre divine demeure” than “Le temps de mere” witch doesn’t mean anything at all in french.

  10. Dark-Necromencer Says:

I see someone corrected the french, if i might recommended, ask someone that speaks french, website translation suck bad time. As for the drawing, I saw the link through an inker’s link on DA. very fluid heroines, dynamic drawing style and quite funny outlets. Got me watching ;p
